New Map Added - Ancient Relics Demo

This map is currently a demo on version 0.2.5 but looks fairly interesting from my short play of the beginning.

"Ancient Relics is an open world game set on the small-ish snowy island of Elmsland*. There is a dungeon on the main island along with many hidden secrets and lots of backstory with different quests to complete and items to collect. After completing the first dungeon you will unlock the ability to travel to new lands with different themes and meet new races."

  1. So I guess adding mappings will be a slow and deliberate process?

  3. Yeah, going to try to slowly add in maps (one reason is because the map selection screen can't be scrolled currently).

  4. I hate to ask this on an unrelated post, but I don't know where to turn, I'm making my own map but I want the area I'm working with in the map editor to be bigger. Is this possible?

  5. I see.... :P

i also see that I think I might have a bit of a clue what I'm doing, scripting wise.. But I can't play the game to run any tests right now... I has a sad.

@DrScientific what area? Did you spawn your world via an image(s)? I've neveer taken that route, so I don't know what to tell ya, but the world should be by no means finite even if you did this.

  6. I am spawning the world via the image. The problem is that when you do spawn the world using the image it only creates what you put on the image in a certain area, then anything beyond that area is what is on the edge of the image going on infinitely. The problem is that there is no variation beyond that point so it generates a giant plain like area, and although I could just use the flat plain area and build hills, it would be much easier to use the terrain and temperature images.

  7. Higher resolution image maybe? If that doesn't work, checkout the Sculpt tool on the wiki in the scripts secton. It's very handy for making your own terrain. Otherwise you might find it easier to simply use a map seed or randomly generated map.

  8. Increase the resolution of the images making sure the biomeMap.png and terrainMap.png are the same size. The center of the image is always 0, o.

  9. hehe, Cryect, do you remeber when there were only like 1-3 comments per post? The funny thing is that that's still the case.. Everything else is Q&A. :P

  10. I'm having some serious trouble installing AdventureCraft. Once I fix one problem with it, another completely different one comes up!

Can I e-mail someone about this so I don't spam the comments? (There should definitely be a Q&A page so that other people can look up the problems if they have the same ones!)
